  • At the same time, Victoria became the United Colony’s capital.
  • British Columbia became the 6th Province of Canada in 1871.
  • Until today Victoria is the capital of BC. Victoria is the 15th largest metropolitan region in Canada.

  1. I don’t normally celebrate this however, it sure seems rich in history. A lot of information I didn’t know about!

  2. Love BC nature – a lot of it is essentially wild and unexplored. Luckily we live in WA, and have a lot to enjoy here as well, just steps away from BC. I do miss living in Vancouver though – this is an amazing spectacular city.

  4. What a beautiful area! The farthest into Canada I’ve ever been was just the Canadian side of Niagara Falls!

  5. This is very helpful. I am going to visit a friend in Montana, but am flying into Calgary so we can do a little hanging out. I would love to see bears – from a distance.

  6. I keep hearing about all these awesome celebrations going on in Canada to celebrate. I hope to get up there to experience some of them.
